b. 16

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

In FE there are no stems sustaining the first note of each triplet in the L.H. It is certainly an oversight.

In EE all the triplet's stems were doubled, which is an obvious error. The remaining sources unanimously confirm the version with one crotchet stem.

The additional crotchet stem in FE may be an authentic version of the text, however, a mistake of the engraver cannot be excluded. Cf. remarks concerning bars 15, 16 and analogous.

b. 27-30

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

In FE and EE the stems sustaining the first notes of the triplets are written inaccurately. FE has them only in bar 29 (and the first in bar 28). EE is lacking the last four ones (from the 3rd one in bar 29). A minor inaccuracy can also be observed in A: there is no 2nd stem in bar 29. Yet Chopin's intention to sustain all the bass notes in that fragment is doubtless, although the correct notation in the faultless form appears only in GE.
