The inaccuracy of notation in A stems from the addition of the small note g1 by Chopin. Our 2nd interpretation (with the intersection of the minim and the first small note) seems to be less probable, as Chopin could equally write it in a simpler form:

The version of EE may be an authentic, alternative correction of the original notation of A (cf. similar shape of melody in Nocturne in B minor Op. 9 No. 1, bars 3 and 73).
