In A one can see corrections of slurs, however, it is unclear whether Chopin wanted to combine or separate them. According to us, the most probable order of Chopin's actions are as follows:
– writing the end of the slur on c2 (without the part in bold text),
– attaching this end to the next slur led to bar 46 (or 44),
– separating the slur by adding two facing downward slurs, clearly thicker endings.
The separated slurs appear in EE and GE2 (→GE3GE4), the continuous one – in FE. The slur in GE1 is incompatible with the notation of A and is certainly an error.
