Issues : Accidentals in different octaves

b. 433

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

In A the notation of accidentals in this bar is inaccurate:

  • there is only one  before the 1st chord in the R.H.; moreover, it is written in such a way that one cannot be certain which note it concerns (we assume that it is d3),
  • in each of the triplets, a  is only before the 1st note,
  • no  before the bottom note of the third in the L.H. on the 3rd beat of the bar.

The necessary signs were added already in GE1 (→FE); however, the  before the bottom note of the octave in the L.H. at the beginning of the bar was overlooked. EE and GE2 feature the correct notation.

b. 434-435

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In FE, there is no  raising d2 to d2 in bar 434 and d1 to d1 in bar 435. The first of the accidentals is not formally necessary due to the erroneous notation of the sixth at the beginning of the bar, hence it was added only just in GE3 and EE2 (→EE3) along with correction of that mistake. The accidental in bar 435 was added straight away in GE and EE.

b. 437

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

In FE, there is no  raising d2 to dbefore the 1st semiquaver. This patent inaccuracy was corrected in GE and EE.

b. 466

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

The natural before b2, the 4th quaver, is present only in EE and GE2; however, due to the use of an octave sign, we consider the sound of this note to be specified also in the remaining sources. Similarly in bar 468.

b. 469-471

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

..

There is no accidental before the last note in b. 469 and before the penultimate one in b. 471 in A. This patent inaccuracy was corrected by Fontana in FC (→GE). Initially, both bars were deprived of the marks in FE; moreover, in b. 469 the discussed note was printed an octave too high (perhaps considering the use of an octave sign). That version was passed on to EE1, which added only the  in b. 471. In FE in the last phase of proofreading the note in b. 469 was moved to the right pitch, adding a  next to it, yet the mark in b. 471 was not added. In EE2 (→EE3) the pitch of the last note in b. 469 was corrected in accordance with the logic of the passage's structure, yet the  was not added.
