Issues : Errors in the number of ledger lines

b. 72

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

e3 in A

g3 in FE (→GE,EE)

..

e3 as the highest note in this bar is probably Chopin's mistake in A, relatively common in the autographs of his works (cf. very similar situation in bar 24). In any case, while proofreading FE (→GE,EE), Chopin changed it to g3.

b. 83

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Sixth e2-c3 in A

Octave c2-c3 in GE1 (→FE)

Octave e2-e3 in EE, FED, FEJ, FES & GE2

..

Both the sixth present in A and the c2-coctave in GE1 (→FE) are almost certainly mistakes – cf. analogous bar 15. In A Chopin wrote one ledger line too little (errors in the number of ledger lines are – except for accidentals – definitely the most frequent type of his pitch errors), whereas the change in GE1 may be explained by an editorial revision, a misunderstanding at the time of proofreading or a common mistake. Chopin wrote the correct text in all three pupils' copies. The version of EE and GE2 are most probably revisions, introduced on the basis of comparison with analogous bar 15.

b. 92

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

f2-d3 in GC (→GE) & FE3 (→FE4)

f2-f3 in FE1 (→FE2EE)

..

The version of FE1 (→FE2EE) is certainly erroneous – it is proved both by the text of GC (→GE) and the proofreading of FE3 (→FE4). At the same time, it is only FE4 that includes a completely correct text, as FE3 overlooked the  before the corrected note.

b. 93

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

..

At the beginning of the bar GC has a C1-E tenth. It is certainly a mistake, which is proved by, among others, the  before the bottom note, which does not make any sense before C1. All the remaining sources include an E1-E octave.

b. 113

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

..

At the beginning of the bar, A has the tenth a flat2-c flat4, which is an obvious mistake. That error was overlooked in GE1, as both in that edition and in the editions based on it, i.e.  FE (→EE) and GE2 (→GE3), the correct octave a flat2-a flat3 appears.
