In the main text we give a slur in the 2nd half of b. 14, written in CJ. The absence of this slur in CK and EL probably results from Kolberg's oversight. It is likely that upon seeing the text of CK devoid of slurs, Balakirev decided to repeat in CB the slur from analogous b. 5-6. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Balakirev's revisions , Errors in CK |

The compliance between CJ and CK allows us to believe that the hairpin before the penultimate triplet reproduced the notation of [A2]. Nevertheless, in the main text we slightly extend this mark after analogous b. 48 – in this context, a diminuendo naturally leads us to the final note of the run, and the notation of the autograph could have been inaccurate. This idea was fully implemented in EL, most probably also on the basis of comparison with b. 48. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Scope of dynamic hairpins , Balakirev's revisions , Revisions in EL |

In the main text we preserve the characteristic, "naive" Chopinesque orthography. In CB it was corrected in accordance with the rules, which Chopin did not always obey, particularly in working autographs or drafts (cf., e.g. the Etude in C Minor, Op. 10 No. 4, b. 15 and 19). After all, the avoidance of double accidentals can also be encountered in works of other 19th-century composers. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Balakirev's revisions |
