b. 18-22

composition: Op. 2, Variation IV, primitive version

..

As in bars 2 and 6, in A there are no accidentals to the last hemidemisemiquaver of the 2nd and 4th R.H. figures in bars 18 and 22, a  (b2) and a  (b2), respectively. In AsI these accidentals are not necessary, since in the version of this manuscript, the aforementioned notes are absent. On the other hand, there is no  to the 2nd note in the 2nd L.H. figure in bar 18 (b). In this context, the patent inaccuracies do not raise any doubts concerning the text.

b. 19

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

..

In JC there is no  lowering a3 into a3, which is a patent error; in the copy there is also no relevant sign before a2. PE is also missing a flat before the latter, which can correspond to the notation of [A], as Chopin often extended the validity of cautionary accidentals onto entire passages or scales of this kind.

The same applies to bar 46, marked in the sources as a repetition of bar 19.

b. 19-20

composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor

..

In none of the authentic sources the notation of the accidentals in the part of the R.H. is entirely correct in these bars – particularly in bar 19. However, the inaccuracies do not pose problems in establishing the correct text. Moreover, in all sources except for Ap the unnecessary  before f2, the 14th semiquaver in bar 20, is repeated.
