A slur in A (→GEFEEE)

A vertical dashed line changing the phrasing written in FED

..

In FED, Chopin marked the altered phrasing of a group of semiquavers in a manner that is typical of him. One often comes across vertical lines signifying change of phrasing in teaching copies, e.g. in Impromptu in G flat major Op. 51, bars 32, 37, 89 & 91.

Our suggestion

..

In the main text we include the fingering added by Chopin in FED and the slur, embracing this group of semiquavers in A. In EE Fontana gave the identical fingering, marked in a more accurate manner.
