Issues : Inaccuracies in A
b. 2-6
|
composition: Op. 2, Variation IV, primitive version
..
In AsI there are no flats restoring b3 at the end of bars 2 and 6. This is a patent mistake – Chopin wrote 'b' over each of those notes. In A those flats are present, yet the accidentals to the 4th note of the 2nd and 4th R.H. passages, a (b2) and a (b2), respectively, are missing. This inaccuracy does not create any doubts concerning the text either. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Accidentals in different octaves , Omissions to cancel alteration , Inaccuracies in A |

b. 16
|
composition: Op. 2, Variation IV, primitive version
..
Both manuscripts are missing a few necessary accidentals in this bar – a to g2 and naturals to g2, d1 and g1. In addition, in AsI the to d2 is missing. On the other hand, in A there is an unjustified to c1 in the last L.H. figure. The latter and both accidentals written in A to the topmost R.H. notes are placed much lower than the noteheads they concern. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Source & stylistic information issues: Accidentals in different octaves , Cautionary accidentals , Omission of current key accidentals , Accidental below/above the note , Inaccuracies in A |

b. 18-22
|
composition: Op. 2, Variation IV, primitive version
..
As in bars 2 and 6, in A there are no accidentals to the last hemidemisemiquaver of the 2nd and 4th R.H. figures in bars 18 and 22, a (b2) and a (b2), respectively. In AsI these accidentals are not necessary, since in the version of this manuscript, the aforementioned notes are absent. On the other hand, there is no to the 2nd note in the 2nd L.H. figure in bar 18 (b). In this context, the patent inaccuracies do not raise any doubts concerning the text. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in A |
