b. 356

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

No 8¯ ¯ ¯ in A (→GE1FE1,EE1EE2)

8¯ ¯ ¯ in AsI, GE2 (→GE3,FESB), FE2 & EE3

..

The version of A must be erroneous, which is indicated by a comparison with analogous bar 342, the text of AsI and probably Chopinesque proofreading of FE2. An octave sign was also added in GE2 (→GE3,FESB) and EE3. If – which is likely – the change in EE3 was introduced on the basis of a comparison with FE, it means that a copy of FE2 was used.

b. 356

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

b1 in AsI

b1-d2 in A (→GEFE,EE)

The absence of d2 in the 15th semiquaver in AsI is almost certainly Chopin's mistake.

b. 363-366

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

As before (bars 349-352), in A Chopin writes accidentals only to the top notes of the octaves (in the R.H. and in the L.H.). He then considers these accidentals to be valid throughout an entire bar in all octaves of a given stave. All the omitted accidentals – 27 flats to d and g and 2 naturals to e – were already added in GE1 and were repeated in the remaining editions.
In the main text we omit the  to the d3 semiquaver in bar 363, unnecessarily repeated by Chopin. We do not include the  to the next semiquaver, d2, either, added in GE (→FE,EE).

b. 364

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

The flat to the 7th semiquaver (d3) is written in A much below the pitch of the note, that is at the pitch of a2. Such inaccuracies, generally without an influence on the text reading, are frequent in Chopin's autographs.

b. 367-368

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

In A a few necessary naturals restoring the right pitch to the previously altered notes are missing – to g2c3e3 in bar 367 and to c3 in bar 368. In GE1 (→FE,EE,GE2FESB) only the second one was added, while in GE3 a third one was also added.
