We consider the missing accent in EE to be the engraver's oversight; he probably forgot about it due to the need to change the beaming (in EE the first two beats of the L.H. part are connected by one beam). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE |

A version of FE in which R.H. quavers on the 2nd beat do not include the f notes is most likely the result of Chopin's correction of its Stichvorlage, i.e. a copy of GE1. This version, which does not suggest striking these notes with both hands simultaneously, is given in the main text. A similar adjustment was made in EE, but there is no suggestion that Chopin had any influence on the text of this edition. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations; Source & stylistic information issues: EE revisions , Accompaniment changes , Authentic corrections of FE , Revisions in FESB |

As in bars 266 and 268, in GE (→FE,EE) the mark encompassing cresc. was omitted, probably considering it an unnecessary graphical complication. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |

In the main text we keep the notation of A, in which Chopin precisely and consistently differentiated between the types of staccato markings in the L.H., saving wedges for the bass notes only. This subtlety was not preserved by GE (→FE,EE), in which all markings were reproduced as wedges. See also bar 276 and 279. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Wedges |
