Minim F in AsI

No F in A (→GEFESB,EE1EE2)

Octaves in FE & EE3

In the main text we include the bottom notes of the octaves added – almost certainly by Chopin – in the stage of proofreading FE1. It is an indisputable enhancement, both due to a fuller sound of the ninth chord and due to the fidelity of the piano reduction to the orchestral original – the added notes correspond to the authentic Double Basses part in all sources of the orchestra part. The addition was also introduced into EE3, most probably pursuant to FE2.
The double-bass F also appeared in the original version of the introductory eight-bar section ending here, but in a different rhythm – as a dotted minim, not 3 crotchets.
