b. 65

composition: Op. 63 No. 3, Mazurka in C# minor
..
If we were to take into account the pedalling of the entire Mazurka, the absence of in FE (→GE1) must be considered an oversight. It was added in GE2 (→GE3) and EEW. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , No pedal release mark |

b. 71-72
|
composition: Op. 63 No. 3, Mazurka in C# minor
..
The slur starting in bar 71 in FE suggests that it should be continued, which is not confirmed by the beginning of bar 72 (in a new line), in which there is no slur. It is difficult to say whether it was also the case for [A], or whether this version resulted from the engraver's carelessness. In GE1 and EEW the slur of FE was interpreted literally, thus encompassing only two notes in bar 71. However, a comparison with bars 59-60 points to a slur reaching the e2 minim as the right one, which we give in the main text. In GE2 (→GE3) a slur was added in bar 72; however, its compliance with the slur in bar 71 was not ensured – the slur starts from the 1st quaver and runs under the notes. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Uncertain slur continuation |

b. 72-74
|
composition: Op. 63 No. 3, Mazurka in C# minor
..
The pianistically unjustified absence of accurate pedal markings in FE (→GE1) in these bars points to likely inaccuracy of notation. One of the reasons could be the lack of space at the bottom of the page (in FE and in the remaining editions bar 72 opens the last line of the text). In EEW and GE2 (→GE3) pedal marks were added, arbitrary and completely misconceived. In the main text we suggest an addition taking into account both the harmonic course and the dramatic, culminant nature of this phrase. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions |

b. 74
|
composition: Op. 63 No. 3, Mazurka in C# minor
..
In the main text we add a fermata in the L.H. part, required due to the parallel nature of the temporal course of both parts. The mark was also added in GE and EEW. In a similar context in bar 62, fermatas are present in the parts of both hands in all sources. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions |
