Reconstruction of As suggested by the editors

Final version with slur in FE (→EEW)

Final version without slur in GE

..

In As, Chopin did not indicate how to end the Mazurka. Repetition of the entire L.H. part from bar 16 is not an option, because the last chord already begins the modulation introducing the middle section (from bar 17). In our proposed reconstruction of the ending, we omit this chord, which completes the harmonic progression without going beyond the material recorded in bar 16. It is possible, however, that when noting the first outline of the Mazurka, Chopin may not have had a specific vision of the ending at all.

The absence of a slur in GE is best explained by an engraver's oversight, but it is possible that Chopin added the slur in the last phase of proofreading of FE1.
