The eight-bar slur of AI is an element of an earlier concept of slurring of this section – see bars 35-36. In the main text we give the proofread version of FE2 (→EE), in which Chopin combined elements of both concepts by adding a four-bar slur over bars 53-56. He introduced an analogous change into bars 57-60 as well.
