Slur in A

No slur in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The absence of the slur in FE (→GE,EE) must be an oversight of the engraver of FE – in A, the mark blends into the stave, hence it is poorly visible; moreover, its meaning may be vague due to its flat shape.

Our alternative variant suggestion

..

It is difficult to say whether the missing diminuendo resulted from an oversight of the engraver of FE (→GE,EE) or from Chopin's proofreading. In A, the indication is very clear, hence there are no visible reasons why someone would not notice it; on the other hand, there are no traces of it having been removed in FE. In this situation, in the main text we follow the version of FE, our principal source, proofread by Chopin twice. The text of A may be considered an equal variant; as an alternative to the main text, we suggest a variant solution with brackets.

In FE, both C crotchets are misplaced, i.e. under the last quaver in a respective half of the bar. GE and EE did not repeat this mistake.
