Title: | 24 Préludes |
Dedication: | Son ami Camille Pleyel |
First French edition based on A, in which the whole cycle of Preludes was divided in two books, 12 pieces each. Chopin did not participate in its preparation – proofreading of FE1, which included supplemented accidentals and pedalling, was conducted by Julian Fontana. For a general description of FE1 in the entire Op. 28 – see Prelude in C no. 1.
In this Prelude only some of the overlooked (by Chopin) accidentals were added, e.g. in b. 21-22 (also in the L.H.). In addition to the numerous inaccuracies repeated after A, a few new mistakes were committed, e.g. an accidental having been put next to the wrong note of the dyad in b. 6 and 44 or oversights, e.g. in b. 23, 28. As far as other defects are concerned, one can mention the overlooked pedal markings in b. 57.
The most serious mistake are the overlooked c1 and b notes – separated, middle notes of chords in b. 58-59.
