b. 5-6

composition: Op. 28 No. 7, Prelude in A major

with bass in A (→FE,FCGE) & EE2

 under semiquaver in CXI

No markings in EE1 & CGS

..

The placement of the  mark in CXI is probably an inaccuracy. However, if the manuscript was indeed based on a lost authentic source, such a later pedal, resulting in the notes ringing out clearer further on in the bar, could have come from Chopin.
The oversight of the  mark is probably an inaccuracy of the copyist – there is a similar situation in bar 8.
The missing pedalling indications in CGS – see b. 3-4.
The oversight of the engraver of EE1 was rectified in EE2.

b. 11

composition: Op. 28 No. 7, Prelude in A major

..

In A (→FE,FCGE1) there is no  raising d2 to d2. In the context of a similar move in b. 3, it is a patent oversight, corrected by the revisers of GE2 and EE. Sharps, coming from Chopin, were added in pencil in FED, FES and FESch; both sharps are also in CXI. On the basis of the poorly legible photocopy of CGS at the disposal of the editors of mUltimate Chopin, it is difficult to clearly interpret the notation of that source; however, it is most likely that they are two sharps.

b. 13

composition: Op. 28 No. 7, Prelude in A major

..

In A (→FE) and CGS there is no accidental before the bottom note of the last R.H. crotchet. Therefore, it should be interpreted as an a1, which must be a mistake. A was added by Fontana in FC (→GE) and by the reviser of EE. The accidental was also added in FED (with Chopin's hand) and FES.

b. 15

composition: Op. 28 No. 7, Prelude in A major

a-e1 in A (→FEEE1) & CGS

e-a-e1 in FC (→GE) & EE2

..

The version of FC (→GE) is most probably a mistake of Fontana. Although the shorter stem of the 3rd crotchet suggests that the additional e was added, it could not have been done by Chopin, who did not proofread FC. That version was introduced – under the influence of GE1 – also in EE2.

Minims a1 tied in A (→FE,FCGE) & EE2

Repeated minim in EE1 & CGS

..

The missing tie of the a1 minim is a mistake both in EE1 and CGS. The error of EE1 was corrected in EE2 on the basis of the Stichvorlage (FE2) or GE1.
