b. 69-73

composition: Op. 28 No. 17, Prelude in A♭ major

..

In a few places FCI differs from the final version in the density of chords:

  • in b. 69 e1 notes are present in all chords (either in the right or the left hand),
  • in b. 73 the L.H. chords include an additional b note.

In the 1st half of the bar, there is no g1 seventh in the chords in FCI, while a1 is played with the L.H. Cf. b. 68-77.

e1 in chords in #CFI

d1-e1 in A (→FCGE) & FE2 (→EE)

d1 in FE1

..

In the earlier version recorded in FCI, attention is drawn to  the absence of d1 notes in the L.H. chords of the 2nd half of the bar and the allocation of the last e1 to the R.H. On the other hand the absence of e1 notes in those chords is very probably an oversight by the engraver of FE1. The mistake was corrected in FE2 (→EE).
