Pedal suggested by the editors

Our alternative suggestion

The missing pedalling markings in this bar seem to be Chopin's oversight, perhaps caused by the fact that the bar is isolated in A – it opens a new line; however, since the following bars were crossed out and rewritten on the stave below, the discussed bar was the only one that remained in that line. In the main text we suggest pedalling markings modelled after the previous bars; in practice, one can press the pedal slightly earlier, which allows the performer to maintain continuity of both main melodic lines.
