The accents in this and the next bars are an improvement introduced into [A2]. According to us, in the case of the marks over the minims, Chopin could have meant long accents, which the copyists did not understand due to the densely packed notation. We suggest this interpretation as an alternative.
The discrepancy between CJ and CK in b. 58-60 suggests a mistake of one of the copyists; however, one can only make a guess which version corresponds to the notation of [A2]. According to us, it is also an oversight that is likely, both of Ludwika and of Kolberg, and this is the version we suggest in the main text. The accent on g1 in b. 58 is most probably Balakirev's revision, who could have considered the accent on a1 to have been misplaced.
