Issues : Authentic corrections of FE
b. 29
|
composition: Op. 50 No. 2, Mazurka in A♭ major
..
The version of EE is a double Terzverschreibung, committed in FE, in which Chopin corrected it in the last stage of proofreading (it is proven by evident traces of correction in print). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Terzverschreibung error , Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 36-37
|
composition: Op. 50 No. 2, Mazurka in A♭ major
..
In the main text we include the long accents written in A1. An analysis of the crossings-out and corrections in that autograph suggests that Chopin added the accents while performing the last corrections in the finished manuscript, probably after [A2] had already been written. The composer's intention is also confirmed by possible Chopinesque proofreading of FE in b. 37: the fact that the accent was added in the last stage of proofreading is indicated by the absence of the mark in EE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations; Source & stylistic information issues: Long accents , Corrections in A , EE inaccuracies , Deletions in A , Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 60-68
|
composition: Op. 50 No. 2, Mazurka in A♭ major
..
The version without repetition of b. 60-67 and 68-83 written down in A1 must be the original version, changed by Chopin in the last stage of proofreading of FE, since EE convey the version of A1. The repeat signs are also included in GE1; however, it is difficult to say whether they were added only just in print or still in [A2]; according to us – rather in the manuscript. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations |

b. 62-63
|
composition: Op. 50 No. 2, Mazurka in A♭ major
..
The tie of A was added by Chopin in the last stage of proofreading of FE. In the main text we include it in a variant form, since the same place was completed differently in the proofreading of GE (or in [A2]), i.e. Chopin added there arpeggios at the beginning of b. 63. Therefore, it is likely that holding A (and pedal, see the note in b. 63) is one way to perform this fragment, while arpeggios – another one. The same applies to b. 78-79. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Authentic corrections of FE |
