In spite of the fact that the fingerings indicated in FED and EE concern the same figure, they are independent – each of them can be completed so that it complies with each other or differently. However, it is most convenient to continue the fingering of FED copied in the 1st half of the bar with the one marked by Fontana, whereas the fingering of EE can be easily combined also with other combinations of fingers in the 1st half of the bar (e.g. 2124). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FED |

The fingering written in FEH is undoubtedly the most natural and rather obvious explanation of the printed Chopinesque indication. Therefore, both the detailed fingering of almost each note in bar 456 and repetition of those indications in the next, identical figure are conspicuous. category imprint: Differences between sources |

According to us, the majority of the digits visible in FEH in bars 472-475 was not written by Chopin. Two 'ones' that could be ascribed to him are discussed in a separate note. category imprint: Differences between sources |

We include two 'ones' written in FEH in bars 473 and 475, perhaps by Chopin, in the main text. The remaining digits in this section, added most probably by the pupil, are discussed in a separate note. category imprint: Differences between sources |
