Issues : Cautionary accidentals

b. 516

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In the main text, we omit the cautionary  before c3, present in all sources except GE3. In the same group of sources, there is no  before d2, which we do not consider a mistake, since the first part of the roulade is written there with the use of an octave sign, so that the  before the 2nd semiquaver may be considered valid also here.

b. 532

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In EE, omission of the cautionary  before f2 may have been intentional – even necessary accidentals hardly fit into the densely packed notes.

b. 558-560

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In FE (→EE1), there are no cautionary naturals before c3 in bar 558 and a2 in bar 560. The accidentals were added in GE and EE2 (before a2) and EE3 (both). In turn, in all sources, there is a cautionary  before c2 at the beginning of bar 559, which we omit in the main text.

b. 562

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

The majority of the sources include naturals before the b1 and b2 notes. It is difficult to say what made Chopin write them – the only alteration in the vicinity of those notes is b1(2) in the next figure. The superfluous accidentals were removed in GE3.
