Fingering written into FEH

The fingering of the R.H. given in FEH and EE is based on one scheme, not taking into account differences in the arrangement of white and black keys. At the same time, the fingering for the L.H. takes into consideration such differences – the groups of four semiquavers begin with the 1st or 2nd finger depending on that whether the 1st note falls on a white or a black key. The fingering of the first kind is confirmed on a number of occasions by authentic indications in other pieces by Chopin, e.g. in the Etude in C minor, op. 10 no. 4, bar 31 (printed) and 1-2 (written during lessons).
