b. 224

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

EE1 is lacking in the cautionary flats before a1 in the L.H. crotchet chord and before b1, the 4th R.H. semiquaver. The accidentals were added in the penultimate stage of proofreading of FE (→GE) as well as in EE2. In the main text we also add a  before a1, the 2nd R.H. semiquaver. Cf. b. 223

b. 225

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

FE are lacking in the  lowering c2 to c2. This patent inaccuracy was corrected in GE and EE. There is a similar situation in b. 241 and 245, which suggests that a corresponding  present in FE in this place the first time (b. 221) could have been added in a hasty process of proofreading, since b. 241-260 were probably marked in [A] in an abridged manner.

e1-a1 in FE (→GE) & EE2

e1-a1 in EE1

..

Just like in b. 223, the version of EE1 is probably Chopin's mistake adopted from a proof copy of FE. The natural raising a1 to a1 was added in the last stage of proofreading of FE (→GE). The correction was also introduced in EE2.

Just like in b. 224, the cautionary flats before a1 and b1 on the 2nd quaver of the bar were added at the time of proofreading of FE (→GE). The accidentals are absent in EE1; however, they were added in EE2. In the main text we also add a  before a1, the 2nd R.H. semiquaver.
