  b. 93

repeated in FE (→GE1)

tied in EE & GE2 (→GE3)

d tied, our suggestion

The motifs in b. 93-94, which are identical, differ, however, in the version of FE, as far as the tie of the d-b sixth, opening the motif, is concerned – d is repeated in b. 93, while in b. 94 – b. Such small differences are not uncommon in Chopin's works; in addition, holding or repeating b seems to match the accents – the accent is present only in b. 93, in which b is tied, constituting a syncopation. There is a reason that makes oversights of ties likely – in both bars, Chopin wrote b on the bottom stave, hence, if it had featured ties of both notes (d and b), they would have had to be placed on the stave close together, which, in turn, could have easily misled the engraver. The existence of the tie of b in b. 94 could also be indicated by the slur running already from the first b

Taking into account the above, in the main text we suggest adding ties in both bars. The tie in b. 93 was also added in EE and GE2 (→GE3), whereas the one in b. 94 – only in GE.
