It is unclear whether the version of EE is – like in some other cases – the original notation, changed in FE (→GE) in the penultimate stage of proofreading, or a revision of EE. According to us, the former is much more likely:
- Chopin could have wanted to emphasise that the run should start only after the full b
2 crotchet due to the erroneous distribution of the L.H. part in FE, which suggests that it should begin earlier;
- there is no reason why the reviser of EE would have changed Chopin's notation.
