The grace note slashed in GE2 (→GE3) is an arbitrary revision. However, it is uncertain whether the notation of the earlier sources indicates a different performance, since Chopin would sometimes not carefully differentiate between both types of grace notes, particularly in the case of small quavers. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |

EE include the original version of this place, completed by Chopin in the last phase of proofreading of FE (→GE): in FE in the place of the grace note there is a trace of removal of the raising c2 to c2. By adding a grace note before the chord, Chopin would have probably meant one of his favourite means: arpeggio with repeated bottom note; however, there was no place left for the arpeggio's wavy line. Due to the above reason, we explicitly insert an arpeggio sign in the main text. category imprint: Editorial revisions; Corrections & alterations issues: Authentic corrections of FE |
