b. 56

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

in FE (→GE,EE1)

f in EE1

..

The version of EE1 must be a mistake, a Terzverschreibung or resulting from mistaking bars, corrected in EE2.

b. 68-96

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

..

EE added cautionary sharps before the f notes in b. 68, 71, 80, 92 and 95 and f1 in b. 69, 72, 81, 84, 93 and 96. The reviser could have considered the C major chords opening subsequent phrases to create an illusion of the C major key, of which he could have been convinced by the Chopinesque sharps before f in b. 78 and 83.

b. 78-90

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

Short accents in FE (→EE) & GE2 (→GE3)

Long accents in GE1

..

In GE1 the accent on the 3rd beat of b. 78 is slightly shorter than the one on the second; however, the difference is probably of accidental nature – in analogous b. 90 the marks are identical – hence we do not include it in the transcription of this source. The choice of the accent's length is left to the discretion of the performer, since the sources are inconclusive here – just like in the entire Semplice – as to which marks Chopin meant.

b. 78-90

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

..

In the main text we omit the cautionary  before f in b. 78, present in all sources, and add a  before c1. We also add a natural in analogous b. 90. Additions in b. 90 were also performed in EE, by adding a , and in GE3, by adding a .

b. 79-94

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

4 short accents in FE (→EE) & GE2 (→GE3)

4 long accents in GE1

..

In b. 79, 82, 91 and 94 we give long accents in the main text after the probably authentic long accents in b. 67 and 70. We interpret the marks in FE and GE, which can be read both as short and long accents, in accordance with the assumptions for the entire Andante.
