Issues : Authentic corrections of GE
b. 171
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III
..
The slur embracing c3 and a2 in bar 171 in A begins still in bar 170, and in GE1 (→FE→EE) it was interpreted as running from the last crotchet in this bar (e3). According to us, it is not right, which is indicated by the slurs beginning from the c3 minims in bars 173 and 175. An argument for the start of the slur from the minim could be also the slur in the L.H., of the same range, as long as it was added by Chopin. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccurate slurs in A , GE revisions , Authentic corrections of GE |

b. 171
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III
..
In the main text we give the slur added – probably by Chopin – in the proofreading of GE (→FE). A Chopin proofreading seems to be likely in this case, since in the entire phrase (bars 168-176), in spite of a few inaccuracies, Chopin marked with dots and slurs the parts of both hands; moreover, one can assume his participation in adding slurs in the L.H. in GE1 also in adjacent bars (bars 169-170 and analog.). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Authentic corrections of GE |

b. 171-172
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III
..
The absence of the first slur is most probably Chopin's oversight. The slur added in GE1 (→FE) probably comes from Chopin; however, it could have been inaccurately reproduced, and it is the slur of GE2 that is compliant with the composer's intention. The slur of EE is a result of a unifying revision of the slurs on the basis of the part of the R.H. In the main text we give two slurs modelled after the slurs in the R.H. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , GE revisions , Authentic corrections of GE |

b. 173-174
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III
..
We interpret the slur of A, started at the end of a page in bar 173 and unfinished on the next page, in accordance with the notation of bars 169-179 and the slurs in the R.H. in bars 169-170 and 171-172. The absence of the slur over (under) the triplet in bar 174 must be Chopin's oversight. The slur of GE (→FE) is probably a result of a Chopin proofreading of GE1, whereas the slur of EE – of a revision. In the main text we give two slurs modelled after the slurs in the R.H. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccurate slurs in A , Authentic corrections of GE |

b. 175-176
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III
..
The missing slur in A is almost certainly an oversight – Chopin overlooked all markings in the L.H. in bars 174-176, opening a new page in A. The slur added in GE1 (→FE→EE, →GE2) is most probably a result of Chopin's proofreading. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of GE |
