b. 435-436

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

In A, Chopin wrote the final section of figuration in this phrase (from e2), as if he thought the majority of the previously introduced accidentals to be still valid – he put flats only before the 3rd and 7th quavers in bar 436. In the latter, signs were added in GE (→FEEE), yet the  at the end of the previous bar – only in EE

b. 438

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

In A there is no  returning c4. The harmonic context and a comparison with an identical figure four bars earlier prove Chopin's mistake. The sign was added already in GE (→FEEE).

Short accent in A (probable reading) & GE2

Long accent in A (possible reading→GE1FEEE)

..

The accent in A may be interpreted as both short and long. According to us, the use of a short accent is more likely – the top, shorter arm, written first, seems to convey Chopin's intention better. However, the sign was interpreted in such a way only in GE2.

2 slurs in A (contextual interpretation) & GE2

3 slurs in GE1 (→FE)

3 slurs in EE

..

The ending of the slur beginning in bar 449 is inaccurate in A, which is confirmed by, among others, the comparison with the next, identical figure (see also bars 409-419). GE1 (→FEEE) convey the literal interpretation of this slur, yet the contextual interpretation, adopted by us to the main text, was included in GE2. The division of the next slur in bar 450 is an arbitrary action of GE1 (→FE) – in spite of the transition to a new page, the notation of A is unambiguous. In EE, the extension of the first of the two slurs, created as a result of this division, mitigated the consequences of the mistake of GE1.
