In A there are visible deletions of the endings of the slurs over the staccato dots in bars 201-204. Instead of them, Chopin added new, shorter endings below, reaching the note heads. The aim of these corrections remains unclear, perhaps the goal was to graphically emphasise the dots. For the second time, in bars 209-212, the composer wrote the slurs already in the "new" way, except for bar 211, in which one can see a correction described above, although without deletion of the original ending.

Long accent in A, contextual interpretation

 in GE (→FE→EE)

The  sign under the 1st triplet in the R.H. is to be interpreted as a long accent, according to us. In the editions it was extended to the middle of the last triplet, which suggests performing the first part of this sequence diminuendo, certainly contrary to Chopin's intention.

In A one can see a deletion of the long accent over the part of the R.H. in this place. Similarly, in bar 207.

Long accents in A

Short accents in GE (→FE→EE)

The change of the clearly long accents in A to short ones is certainly a result of an inaccuracy of GE (→FE→EE). The sign in bar 207 was initially written over the top stave in A, and then deleted and replaced with an accent between the parts of both hands.

The version of A (→GE→FE1), changed by Chopin in the proofreading of FE2 (→EE), was already a result of a correction in A – originally, the 7th quaver was most probably a c2. In the main text we give the latest of these three authentic versions.

In A Chopin wrote in the part of the R.H. the text of the next bar by mistake. Having noticed the error, he crossed out the bar and wrote the correct text on an adjacent stave.
