In A (→GE1) naturals are written only before the 1st quaver in the L.H. and the 2nd quaver in the R.H. FE added a  before the 4th quaver in the L.H. (possible Chopin's proofreading), whereas GE2 – both necessary naturals in the L.H. It is only EE that includes the correct text.

The placement of the dynamic marking in FE (→EE1) –  before the 2nd triplet in the bar – suggests a mistake. The Chopinesque proofreading entry could have been misinterpreted; it could have been  or even  if the original  was overlooked in the proof copy. In the first case, the composer's intention would be , which we include as an additional possibility. According to us, a possible change of the correctly printed  to  is highly unlikely.

A shorter slur in GE1 (→FE→EE) must be an inaccuracy, typical in this composition. In EE a similar slur was added in the L.H. In GE2 the slur was extended after A. Similarly in bars 315-316.

The  before the top note at the beginning of the bar in FE1 was overlooked. The mistake was corrected in FE2 (→EE).

The ritenuto indication is written only in Morch, in the part of clarinets. It is difficult to say why Chopin did not include it in A – perhaps he simply forgot it or did not feel the need to emphasise the slowdown he had already marked in bars 301-302 as poco a poco rallent., which is most probably still valid here (to bar 316). Due to the reminding nature of this marking, we suggest it in the main text in a variant form.
