Minim without slur in A

Minim with slur in GE

Semibreve with slur in FE (→EE)

..

It is difficult to state whether the notation of A is a result of a mistake or a kind of a compromise suggesting, on the one hand, a long fading out of this third and, on the other hand, a lack of need to actually sustain it with fingers (thanks to pedalling). In the main text we include later changes of GE1 (an added slur) and FE (the minim changed to a semibreve), both probably authentic.

In GE2 the minim third of flutes was placed after the trilled note of the piano, as if it were to be played only in the middle of the bar, which is certainly contrary to Chopin's intention.

No sign in GE1 (→FEEE)

The missing  sign in GE1 (→FEEE) is certainly an oversight of the engraver of GE1. The mistake was corrected in GE2 after A.

3 accents in A

No marks in GE1 (→FEEE)

1 accent in GE2

2 accents &  suggested by the editors

..

Interpretation of three accents written in A at the beginning of the bar is problematic, which could have been the reason they were omitted in GE1 (→FEEE). In the main text we suggest a solution in which the first two signs are reproduced without changes and the third is interpreted as diminuendo, which, undoubtedly, is required here between the accent at the beginning of the bar, which ends the two-bar crescendo, and the  after the last trill. In GE2 only one accent was reproduced, corresponding to the first two in the notation of A.

Slurs in both hands in GE2

The missing slur in GE1 (→FEEE) is certainly an oversight, completed in GE2 after A. The same slur was added in GE2 also in the L.H.

In A (→GE1FEEE) Chopin provided the half-bar demisemiquaver figure with the number 30. The mistake was noticed only in GE2.
