Slur in EE

..

The slur over the entire bar, added in EE, is probably inauthentic in this place. It was supposedly drawn from analogous bar 289, where its authenticity is also uncertain.

In the main text we add a cautionary  before din the L.H. The sign was added also in EE3. At the same time, we omit the superfluous in this situation  before dpresent in the sources at the end of the bar in the R.H.

f2 in A (literal reading→GE1FE)

f2 in A (contextual interpretation) & EE

f2 in GE2

..

Before the penultimate note in A (→GE1FE) there is no accidental specifying whether it is to be f2, in accordance with the figuration's logic, or f2, in accordance with the orthographic rules. In this kind of figures, transferred by an octave, Chopin would often omit repetitions of accidentals, considering them to be obvious. The fact that he heard fhere is proved by cautionary naturals before the f1-foctave in the next bar, added in the proofreading of FE (→EE), most probably by Chopin. In this situation, in the main text we adopt the version with f2. It is also in EE, in which a  was probably added after having taken into account cautionary naturals (cf. bar 171). GE2 opted for the version with f2, adding a  before it.

Slur from 2nd quaver in A (probable reading) & GE2

Slur from 1st quaver in A (possible reading→GE1FEEE)

..

The starting point of the slur in the L.H. in the 1st half of the bar is unclear in A, since it partially blends in with the con forza indication. We assume that the slur runs from the 2nd quaver, since such slurs are present in bars 241-246, based on a similar texture, as well as in bar 32 and 81 in the 2nd movement of the Concerto. The version of the majority of editions may, however, be considered an equal interpretation.

Slur in EE & GE2

..

The slur in the 2nd half of the bar, added in GE2 and EE is certainly arbitrary, although the analogy with the 1st half of the bar certainly encourages an addition. However, it is puzzling that the reviser of EE added a slur from the 2nd quaver, although in the 1st half of the bar EE has a slur from the 1st quaver.
