Contrary to bar 19, in which the staccato dot is very clear in A and which was included in GE2, in bars 20-22, the presence of the dot in A may be suspected only in bar 21. The range of the slurs in the L.H. in A is unclear; in the main text we give the most likely interpretation. The slurring of GE1 (→FE→EE) is probably a combination of the initial inaccuracy of the engraver of GE1 and the later, perhaps authentic, proofreading of this edition. The accent in A in bar 23 is not a typical long accent, yet the musical context and analogy with the next bar encourage us to consider it a long one.
