The dashes marking the range of cresc. are led in A only to just after the middle of bar 194. However, Chopin most probably meant a crescendo to 
in bar 195, which was reproduced accurately in GE2.
Omissions of signs – in GE1 – are a quite frequent inaccuracy in first editions of Chopin's works.
While proofreading FE, the composer added dashes throughout three bars, at the same time most probably removing in bar 195 and changing 
to in bar 197. It is the last version that we adopt in the main text.
