The accidentals specifying the sound of the 8th semiquaver in the L.H. (the of g2) and of the 11th semiquaver in the R.H. (the of g3), overlooked by Chopin, were being gradually added in the editions – in GE1 only the first of them was added. At the same time, the process of proofreading or revision was not without disturbances:
- the traces in print prove that in FE a was initially printed before the 11th semiquaver. Therefore, it may be possible that the need to specify the notation of both discussed notes was provoked by the necessity of correcting this mistake.
- at the time of work on GE2, first the revision of the text of GE1 was performed, adding in the discussed place a before g3. However, since eventually the notation of the 2nd half of the bar without an octave sign was chosen, the addition was no more required, particularly since in GE2 – differently than in our main text – cautionary naturals before g1 and g2 had not been used.
