composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

The version of FE1 (→FE2→EE) is certainly erroneous – it is proved both by the text of GC (→GE) and the proofreading of FE3 (→FE4). At the same time, it is only FE4 that includes a completely correct text, as FE3 overlooked the before the corrected note. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Terzverschreibung error , Errors in the number of ledger lines , Authentic corrections of FE |

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

At the beginning of the bar GC has a C1-E tenth. It is certainly a mistake, which is proved by, among others, the before the bottom note, which does not make any sense before C1. All the remaining sources include an E1-E octave. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Terzverschreibung error , GE revisions , Errors in the number of ledger lines , Errors of GC |

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

The version with e3 present in FE1 (→FE2→EE1) (in both FE without the necessary in this situation) is almost certainly erroneous. It is proved by: c3 written in GC (→GE) and the Chopinesque corrections in FESch and FE3 (→FE4). The correct version with c3 is written inaccurately in some of the sources – the necessary is only in GE and EE2. Further omissions of accidentals – see the adjacent note. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in FE , Terzverschreibung error , GE revisions , Omission of current key accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE , Inaccuracies in GC , Annotations in FESch |

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

The version of GE1 is certainly a mistake of the engraver, corrected in GE2. The bottom note of this dyad is devoid of natural in GC, FE and GE1, which in all of the cases is a patent error. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in GE , Terzverschreibung error , GE revisions |

b. 155

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I
..
The structure of the figuration in the entire passage in the L.H. (bars 153-156 and 157-160), and particularly the comparison with analogous bar 159, indicate a mistake of the copyist in this place. The absence of a correction in GE may be attributed to the absent before this note (although in a similar situation four bars later, a before the respective note – c2 – was added). The sign is absent also in the majority of the sources featuring the note at the correct pitch – it was added only in EE2. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Terzverschreibung error , Errors of GC |
