  b. 226-228

3 accents in GC

2 accents in FE

2 accents in GE

2 vertical accents in EE

There are differences between the editions, as far as the presence of accents under the bass octaves is concerned:

  • no sign in FE (→EE) in b. 226 is probably an oversight of the engraver, since it seems unlikely that the accent in GC could have been added by Chopin;
  • the missing sign in GE in b. 227 is most probably due to the overlapping marks in GC, i.e.  and an accent;
  • the change of the font of accents in EE is an arbitrary decision typical of this edition.
