New slur in GC & GE2

Slur continued in FE (→EE) & GE1

Same as in the four previous bars, the slurring of the sources is inaccurate in this fragment, which probably results from the careless, perhaps corrected notation of [A]. We find the following issues to be particularly questionable:

  • combining the phrase beginning in bar 189 with the motif in bar 188, of a complementary character performed by the alto voice (FE,EE and GE1). The notation of GC, although inaccurate, rather does not suggest such a combination;
  • beginning a new slur in bar 191 – in [A] the original short slurs could have been combined in this place, which is suggested by the notation of GC and which was not understood in FE.

Therefore, in the main text we suggest a three-bar slur based on analogous bars 61-63, written in a more precise manner.
