b. 40

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

..

In GC and FE1 (→FE2FE3FE5) there is no  before the 1st note in the R.H. This patent, from the harmonic point of view, mistake was corrected in GE, EE and FE4 (in the case of the last two editions, Chopin's proofreading cannot be excluded). A natural was added in FES too.

b. 43

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

No markings in GC (→GE)

 in FE (→EE)

..

The change of pedal in the middle of the bar is, according to us, a mistake of the engraver of FE (→EE), who confirmed the pedalling of the previous bar. All similar bars – bars 31, 33, 39 and 41 – include a compatible, whole-bar pedalling in the sources.

c2-b1 in GC (→GE), FE3 (→FE4,FE5) & EE

d2-c2 in FE1 (→FE2)

..

The version of FE1 (→FE2) is certainly a result of the mistake of the engraver, who repeated the crotchets from the previous bar.

The absence of the  returning a is undoubtedly an oversight of Chopin in [A] (→GC,FE1FE2FE3FE4). In the remaining editions the sign was completed, it was also added in FES.

No ornament in FE

 in FE3 (→FE4,FE5) & EE

Each of the source versions could have been intended by Chopin, yet only the version with an ornament is undoubtedly authentic, whereas its notation with the use of grace notes is certainly later.
