b. 132

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

No slur in A (→FEEE,GE1op,GE1no2)

Slur in GE2op (→GE3op) & GE2no2

..

The addition to the slur introduced in later GE (most probably on the basis of comparison with analogous bars 20 and 148) may be considered to be justified – see bars 4 and 20.

b. 133-150

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

Slur over pair of sixths in A

Two slurs in FE (→EE)

Slur e1-d1 in GE1no2 & GE1op (→GE2opGE3op)

Slur c2-b1 in GE2no2

..

Over the pair of minims in bars 133-134 and 149-150 in the main text we give the slurs written in A. We consider a possible proofreading of Chopin in FE (→EE) to be only an ad hoc intervention, correcting the misleading reproduction of these slurs (preserved in the majority of GE).

b. 133-134

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

 in A

No sign in GE1op (→GE2opGE3op) & GE1no2

 in EEC & GE2no2

..

The lack of the  hairpin in the majority of GE is probably a result of an oversight of the engraver of FE, which was then corrected in the very FE (→EE). The sign was added in GE2no2 too. We reproduce the range of the sign on the basis of the notation of A. Cf. bars 3-4.

b. 136-137

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

Two slurs in A & GE2op (→GE3op)

Slur in FE (→EE)

No slurs in GE1op & GE1no2

Two-bar slur in GE2no2

..

In the main text, we give the most certain slurs of A, as far as the sources are concerned. Omission of both slurs in GE1op and GE1no2 may mean that they were originally absent also in FE (cf. bars 138-139), in which, however, a slur in bar 137 was added in the last proofreading. The addition – perhaps coming from Chopin – certainly does not mean that bar 136 is to be devoid of a slur, in turn, it confirms the use of a new slur for bar 137 (cf. bars 8-9). The slurs added in later GE – different for each of two versions of this edition – are certainly revisions of the editors, modelled on analogous bars 8-9 (GE2op) or 152-153 (GE2no2).
