The first, separate German edition of the Waltz in C minor, based on a proof copy of FE without later corrections introduced by Chopin. Dating of the publication – see the characterization of a separate edition of the Waltz in A major, No. 3 (GE1Ab).
Both versions of GE1 differ in the distribution of the text into pages: the Waltz published separately (GE1no2) includes 5 pages, whereas as a part of the opus (GE1op) – six. The editions differ also in a number of essential details of the text, e.g.:
- no staccato dots in bars 64 and 176 in GE1no2,
- no dynamic hairpin in bars 65-67 in GE1op,
- no b note in bar 69 in GE1op,
- no pedalling in bars 85-86 in GE1op,
- no pedalling in bar 113 in GE1no2,
- no dynamic hairpin in bars 149-150 in GE1no2.
There are copies of GE1no2 differing in the details of the cover. The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin originates from a later impression from 1854-1858.
