The notation of the accidentals in this fragment of A is inaccurate – there is not any flat lowering e2(1) to e2(1) in bars 94, 96 and 98. It is probably an echo of the draft notation of As, which is not only devoid of flats, but it includes naturals before e1 in bars 93 and 97. The signs were added in FE (→GE,EE). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Cautionary accidentals , Omission of current key accidentals , Errors of A , Authentic corrections of FE |

According to us, both here and in bars 125-126, the absence of a tie sustaining e1 is an oversight of Chopin. The composer actually wrote out both pairs of bars in A, yet probably only due to the accent on e1, which is absent in bar 1. In any case, a tie added in a proofreading of FE clearly proves Chopin's final intention. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Errors of A , Authentic corrections of FE |
