The last chord in As (→A→FE→EE) is g
-a-e1. In the proofreading of GE1op and GE1Ab it was changed (most probably at Chopin's request – cf. the note to bar 49) to a-e1-f1. We give the latter, probably being the latest, in the main text. It is not clear what was the motivation of the revisers of GE3op, when they returned the original chord. However, since it is undoubtedly authentic, it can be considered to be an equal variant.
