Issues : Authentic corrections in GC
b. 51
|
composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor
..
The original slurring of this bar was the same as in bar 49. In GC (→GE) one can see extension of the "triplet" slur performed by Chopin, so it includes also the two adjacent octaves (preserving the triplet slur in GE1 certainly does not correspond to Chopin's intention). category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Authentic corrections in GC |

b. 61-62
|
composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor
..
Chopin added cautionary naturals before b in bar 61 and d1 in bar 62 in GC (→GE1); they were added in EE3 too). The second one of them was omitted in GE2, yet returned in GE3. The natural before f1 at the end of bar 61 is an addition, introduced most probably at the time of proofreading of FE. None of these signs are present in EE1 (→EE2). category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Cautionary accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE , Authentic corrections in GC |

b. 65
|
composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor
..
In GC Chopin moved the indication between the staves – the copyist wrote it under the bottom stave. It is hard to state whether such a placement of the sign was present in the manuscript copied by Gutmann – is between the staves both in FE and EE. category imprint: Corrections & alterations; Source & stylistic information issues: Authentic corrections in GC |

b. 66-68
|
composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor
..
In the main text we give the crescendo indication on the basis of Chopin entry in GE (→GE). The version of EE constitutes only a variation of it, whereas cresc. in FE describes an already entirely different dynamic concept, which can be considered as an equal variant. The version may be even the latest, as among the indications deleted in GC the indication is not written in the place where it appears in FE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections in GC |

b. 83
|
composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor
..
The fifth chord in GC (→GE) is a result of a correction (of Chopin or of the copyist), however, the initial version, then changed, was not the g-g1 octave present in FE and EE. Therefore, it seems that in the base texts to these editions Chopin changed this or another original version to the g-g1 octave. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations |
