b. 83

composition: Op. 25 No 10, Etude in B minor

f-a in GC (→GE) & EE

a in FE

..

Lack of the f note in FE is a possible mistake – it is hard to assume that Chopin performed a correction here and did not notice both the missing  before the crotchet and the mistake in the previous bar.

b. 83

composition: Op. 25 No 10, Etude in B minor

..

In GC and FE there is no  lowering a to a. The mistake was corrected in GE, EE also includes the correct text. The natural was also added in FED.

b. 90-98

composition: Op. 25 No 10, Etude in B minor

..

The sources include sharps before all a and a1 notes (except for a1 in bar 95 in GC, GE and FE and in bar 96 in EE). It seems that in this transitory fragment, preparing the return of the B minor key and, de facto, already maintained in it, both keys – B major and B minor – overlapped in Chopin's mind. Perhaps it also had to do with Chopin's general uncertainty concerning the validity of the last key signature (cf. the note to the Etude in G minor, No. 6, bars 7-8).

b. 106

composition: Op. 25 No 10, Etude in B minor

..

FE has F-f and f1-fas the 3rd quaver in the bar. In GC (→GE) Chopin changed the notation to the more rational G-g and g1-g2. He introduced a similar change probably also in the base text to EE, which is proved by the unnecessary sharps left before the 4th quaver.

Minims d2 in GC (→GE), EE1 & EE3

d2-f2 in FE & EE2

..

The version of FE is a result of proofreading of this edition – Chopin added f2 minims to the d2 minims, present in the remaining sources (except for EE2, in which the version of FE was introduced). Being the latest, we adopt it to the main text.
