in GE1 is a revision – by analogy to bar 50 – or a mistake. The version of GE2 (→GE3) does not find justification in the sources.
It is also unclear how the tie sustaining f in FE is to be considered. It could be Chopin proofreading, yet also an earlier version or even a mistake, as the tie is absent both in analogous bars 50-51 and the remaining sources. Therefore, we do not include it in the main text.
